Janusian in nature, the Half Bridge attempts to elucidate the mutural interdependence of Path and Place.
The Half-Bridge correlates the midpoint of the Path with its “midspan” . This Place is defined simultaneously as the terminus of the first half of a journey and origin for the second, a fulcrum, a point of stasis in the continuum of the Path.
As well, the Half-Bridge articulates Place within a temporal continuum, as the point between refection and projection. The user, in operating the bridge, is obliged, for the first time, to look back as a prelude to looking forward to the second half of the journey.
