The project seeks to frame the ritual of bathing as a “threshold” experience. The bathouse is made as the joint formed by natural curved wall carrying the cold water which is diverted from the adjacent stream and the straight mechanical wall carrying the warm water which has been pumped up against gravity. The tangency of these two elements forms the interior where the ritual of bathing is enacted.
